Alice in Wonderland (2010) Question
Why does the Hatter/Tarrant twice refer to Alice as a boy?
Do you think he has a reason, or is he just being an ass?

Because he's insane. He didn't mean to, but those chemicals were messing with his head. So yeah, he had an excuse, and it really wasn't his fault. They call him the 'Mad Hatter' for a reason.

He reffers at Alice like a boy because that`s what he did in the original story. It`s only because in Wonderland everything it`s so upside down that people reffers to little girls as they were boys. I think it is for that reason

I don't know why he calls her a boy but I do know that in the original story he had called her a boy.
But I don't really think it is an insult.

Part of it is because of the original movie. The other reason is because people back in the victorian century refered a person as 'him' or 'he' and other labels for men, because back then they didn't have woman do anything, they couldnt vote, couldnt work, or have a choice in anything. Also they looked at woman as men, like 'woMEN' they looked at it as the same gender, but they still call them by what gender they are and their names......and in a funner fact, its because he's mad. Plus, I think they were making fun of that topic :)
